All people should eat a variety of whole fruits. “Whole fruits” refers to fruits which are not juice. Fruit juice does not have the same amount of fiber that whole fruits have. All juices WIC provides are 100% juices without added sugars, but that whole fruits are still more nutritious than any juice.
Did you know?
Juice often contains added sugars. Check the Nutrition Facts label to see how much has been included. You may notice that the Nutrition Facts labels on foods and drinks have changed recently. Review our sample Nutrition Facts label to see where added sugars can be found on the new Nutrition Facts label.
Nutritionists recommend that people eat mostly whole fruit instead of juice. Whole fruits are nutritious whether they are fresh, frozen, dried, or canned. (When canned, choose fruits canned in 100% fruit juice or water, not syrup.) Note: Dried fruits may not be part of your state's WIC Food Benefit. Please check your state's WIC Shopping Guide to know if dried fruits are included in your WIC Food Benefit.
