Crush one third of the cereal into fine crumbs. Rinse and drain pinto beans. Set both aside.

In medium bowl combine beans, egg, water, chili powder, salt and the remaining cereal. Use potato masher to coarsely mash mixture. Stir in onion.
Step 4
Use a 1/2 cup measuring cup to portion mixture into 4 burgers. Shape each portion into a 1/2-inch-thick patty.
Step 5
Coat each patty with crushed cereal.
Step 6
Cook patties in a large nonstick skillet coated with 1 teaspoon oil. Cook over medium-high heat for 6-10 minutes, or until golden brown. Turn patties once while cooking and add oil to the skillet as needed.
Step 7
Serve hot. Enjoy with picante sauce or salsa, if desired.
