Action Plan. Track the protein foods my child eats

Use the charts below to keep track of the type and amount of protein foods you offer in the next week. At the end of the week, check if you offered a variety of options. Keeping track helps your family members get the recommended amounts of protein foods.

The charts below are meant to be used as a guide. Your child may or may not eat the amount you offer. That’s okay! Appetites change based on age and activity levels. So, use this as a guide (not a rule) for how much you offer.

You can download or print each of these lists and example meal plans if you would like. You can also:

After you have finished the chart, ask yourself:

  • Was there a good variety?
  • Were the portions the right size?
  • What type of proteins did we not eat very often? How could we add more?
